Studio B Productions is an award-winning animation production studio based in Vancouver, Canada that has produced more than 100 half hours of its own original children’s shows. Studio B also provides high-quality service work for such prestigious clients as Universal Studios, Nelvana, Walt Disney, Warner Brothers Television and Nickelodeon.

Voted by Kidscreen Magazine as one of the top ten production companies in the world in 2001, Studio B was featured in Time Magazine in May 2002. The company was also rated one of the top ten most innovative and creative studios in the industry in a June 2002 TBI Magazine survey of 100 international children’s programming executives.

Studio B, founded 14 years ago by animators Chris Bartleman and Blair Peters, has experienced explosive growth since its inception. The company now employs a team of more than 100 of Canada’s top animators, writers and producers. It currently has three of its original shows airing on national television and broadcast in a variety of international markets: award-winning and Gemini-nominated Yvon of the Yukon on YTV; award-winning What About Mimi? on TELETOON, and D’Myna Leagues on both CTV (the broadcaster’s first Canadian animated children’s series) and YTV.

And there’s more…2001 was pivotal to Studio B’s growth, with the re-signing of all three of its original shows to second or third seasons, as well as the securing of several high-profile international co-production deals, and this year sees Studio B simply buzzing with work.

The Studio is producing Yakkity Yak with Kapow Pictures for TELETOON and Nickelodeon Australia, Something Else — based on the award-winning book by Kathryn Cave and Chris Riddell — with TV Loonland for Family Channel Canada, as well as an additional 26 episodes of Yvon of the Yukon for BBC Kids and YTV. Other projects on order include 26 episodes of another original show, Being Ian, from the creator of Yvon of the Yukon, for YTV and Into the Shadows, for Family Channel Canada.

Studio B is housed in a custom-designed 27,000 square foot facility overlooking Vancouver’s harbour, which is also home to its sister company, Mercury Filmworks, a 2D digital ink-paint and FX house, Dick and Roger’s, a fully equipped sound studio, and the studios of Michael Richard Plowman, composer. Combined with recent launch of its new commercial division, Studio B offers a high-quality one-stop shop that meets a broad spectrum of animation needs.

The future? Thanks to a variety of exciting new projects currently in development, Studio B is firmly positioned to capitalize on its growing reputation as one of the world’s best animation studios.
